Have you ever wondered if there’s a way to liven up your surroundings with just the flick of a switch?  Well there is!  You can brighten up any place with Mood Lighting! We’ve all had it – that sinking feeling as you approach your car and see the dreaded yellow plastic envelope stuck on the windscreen – a parking ticket.

The sight of a parking attendant booking a vehicle makes even the most level-headed person boil over with rage – especially if it’s unjustified. And there are many stories of unjustified tickets being issued… Here’s just a few that we found:

Real Life Parking Ticket Stories

1. Hopping mad
A pet shop keeper was unloading a van outside his business when he noticed a traffic warden taking snaps of him. Although he believed he was parked legally, he moved his van to a car park to be safe. But on returning the parking warden attempted to issue him with a ticket. When he refused to take it, the warden slapped it on a hutch outside the shop – with rabbit inside!

2. Horse play
A retired blacksmith had travelled into Skipton on his horse Charlie Boy. When he returned to pick Charlie Boy up, he was amazed to see a parking ticket slapped on his hair. For the vehicle description the warden had written ‘brown horse’!!

3. Bus-ted
A bus driver believed he was going about his daily business when he picked up passengers at a bus stop. But a parking warden saw it otherwise. He and his passengers were gobsmacked when the attendant slapped a £40 penalty notice on the bus and walked off.  The warden claimed he was booked for parking in a restricted area. When the bus driver asked ‘restricted to who?’, the warden replied ‘buses’.”

4. Drive me crazy
One driving instructor told of how he received a CCTV parking ticket after a learner driver stalled doing a three point turn. The pupil couldn’t restart the car so the instructor was issued with a ticket for parking more than 50 centimetres from the kerb.

5. First aid fine
A chap was driving along on his motor bike. He got hit by a car, fell of the bike and broke his leg really badly. A medical team arrived to pick him up and obviously the bike was left parked at the side of the road. Just as the ambulance personnel were closing the doors to drive off there was a knock at the door and a ticket warden says: ‘I don’t want to make your day any worse but I’ve given you a ticket’.”

Fixed Penalty Notice
Sometimes we all get the urge to issue a fixed penalty notice… whether it’s justified or not, it can be satisfying!  So at Mustard, we’ve come up with a super little pad of sticky fixed penalty notices that you can issue to whomever you wish, whenever you wish, for whatever reason!  Take the opportunity to play the ‘nasty warden’ and deal with those offenders once and for all!  Only available in ‘you’re nicked sonny’ yellow.

‘It happens’ – that’s what the bumper sticker says! Saving can sometimes be a little hard, especially when there are so many wonderful things to buy. So we’ve come up with a few money banks to make you feel good about putting your pennies away. There’s Smurf Money Banks that don’t mind being blue! Or Morph Piggy Banks that always help you see the lighter side of life and remind you of your childhood! Or how about our Marmite Money Jars  – what isn’t to love about them?

Pennies make pounds…

1. If you had put away £2 a day until the time you had reached 18, that would have saved a whopping £13,140! You can buy a lot of shoes with that money!

2. If you had put away just £1 a day, you would have almost £30,000 by the time you reached 75!

3. 50p for every time you brush your teeth until the age of 25, (from when they started appearing – and assuming twice a day of course!) – then add on the tooth fairy visits, and you’d have almost £10,000!

4. And what about if you’d put just £1 away for every day you went to school – up until the age of 16… OK, a tricky one to work out given the school holidays – and truancy, sick days, unauthorized holidays etc… but we estimate you’d have around £2,160! You could buy your first car with that!

5. Finally – if you saved £1 for every episode of EastEnders shown in a year (not including the Omnibus edition), you’d have around 200 quid! We think that would buy something to cheer anyone up!

Today is Shrove Tuesday, and for most people, this means slapping a load of flour, milk and egg mixture into a frying pan, tossing it around a bit and then eating what turns out with lemon juice and sugar… Here at Mustard, we think that so much more fun could be had on this marvellous day that celebrates eating all things yummy before you have to give it all up for Lent!

If it’s a ‘cake’ day as such – why not make proper cakes? Not frying something that’s one ingredient from being an omlette! Anyway, it’s a good excuse to make cakes and what more fun could be had than baking 1-Up Cakes! Our silicone cupcake bases look like the mushrooms familiar to fans of a certain retro video game. You know the one! Add a little cake mix and you’ll soon have a winner.
