We’ve had a lot of recipe requests. Here’s a tried and tested recipe for a simple yet tasty sponge cake.
450g softened butter (or margarine)
8 beaten eggs
450g self-raising flour
4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp vanilla extract/essence
2 tbsp milk
A few drops of food colouring/other flavourings if you want to make things interesting
- Preheat oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4
- Mix together all of the ingredients (with a wooden spoon, cake mixer... a cement mixer if need be!)
- Pour in to the I Heart Cake Mould
- Bake for 50-55 minutes
- Is it cooked?! Pierce the cake with a skewer or knife. If it comes out clean, take the cake out! If it doesn’t, put it back in for a little longer.
